2001 Chisholm Trail Round-Up's The 2001 Chisholm Trail Round-Up's Queen's competition was held on Saturday, May 26, 2001 at Gerald Ellis Performance Horses training facility on Mikus Road, Weatherford, TX. Judges for the competition were Gerald Ellis, professional horse trainer specializing in reining horses and other western disciplines and Pam Dodson, Sales Manager, National Roper's Supply, David's Western Wear, Decatur, TX.
Competition consisted of a short speech introducing themselves and explaining their accomplishments and goals for the future. They were asked several general questions by the judges to see how each contestant handled themselves in a conversational manner. They did a short modeling exhibit and the riding competition involved rail work at a walk, trot and lope, queen's salute and a simplified reining pattern to determine how well they handled their horses.
There were two contestants for the competition. They were Kassi Tate, Azle, TX and Monica Wilkins, Red Oak, TX.
Miss Chisholm Trail Round-Up represents the Chisholm Trail Round-Up festival scheduled for June 15, 16 and 17, 2001, in the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards. During the three day event, Miss Chisholm Trail Round-Up will reign over the scheduled activities such as the parade and contest award presentations, etc. Throughout the year, she will participate in local parades, festivals and rodeos. The winner of the competition was 18 year old Kassi Tate of Azle, TX.
Kassi will be a senior at Azle High School and is active in the North Texas High School Rodeo Association. She competes in poles and barrels. She is employed by Circle C Western Wear in Azle, TX. Kassi was presented her crown and banner, a cash award and a three piece belt buckle donated by Luskey / Ryons Western Stores of Fort Worth, TX.
Present for the competition was Rusty Witt, President of 2001 Chisholm Trail Round-Up, and Judy Black, Director of the 2001 CTRU Parade and the 2001 Miss CTRU.
