Advantages Over Other Technologies

Flashlights that use incandescent light bulbs will fail after a relatively short period due to the bulbs either breaking or burning out. The white-light LED integrated into NightStar will last over 100,000 hours even when subjected to severe impacts. In addition, flashlights that use batteries to power incandescent bulbs can only run for a few hours before the batteries are drained of energy. Even rechargeable batteries will ultimately become useless and need to be disposed of after a few hundred charge-cycles. Batteries will also fail to work in cold environments. Continually replacing them is both costly and environmentally unsound. Corrosive chemicals will eventually leak from batteries, potentially causing damage to the flashlight or to earth when buried. With NightStar, a simple shaking motion recharges the capacitor. The capacitor will hold a charge for months, and can be recharged over one million times. Whenever needed, the capacitor's energy will power the LED.
Renewable energy flashlights that use flywheel energy systems also have short operational lifetimes when compared to NightStar. Flywheel technology is inherently complex and involves numerous moving parts. As mechanical systems become more complex, they are less efficient and posses a higher likelihood of component failure. Within NightStar the energy of a single, nearly fhctionless moving part is transformed efficiently into electrical energy with no degradation to the system.
A high precision acrylic lens serves to effectively collect and image the uniform light output from the diode, as well as acting as a window capable of withstanding considerable pressure and shock. In addition, the lens can be removed and used as a high-power magnifying glass. Double O-rings in the lens cell protect the lens and enable NightStarto be used underwater and in combustible environments.
Another unique feature of NightStar is the Permaglowo, magnetic switch. Permaglow's remarkable ability to radiate light for more than eight hours after only a few minutes of exposure to room or sunlight represents the latest development in luminescent technology. This added feature provides NightStar with another clear advantage over other flashlights; it is easy to locate and operate in the dark.
NightStar's lightweight and rugged housing protects all the internal components from damage under extreme conditions. Additionally, NightStar is almost neutrally buoyant and will float when the flotation rings are attached. NightStar is available in High Tech Clear, Stealth Black, Marine Yellow, translucent Ruby, Amber, Emerald and Sapphire.
NightStar will provide effective illumination whenever needed. Though not as bright as most other batterypowered flashlights, it is infinitely brighter than other flashlights when their batteries are drained of energy or corroded and their bulbs are broken or burned out.NightStar's ability to operate whenever and wherever needed, coupled with the benefits of not buying and discarding batteries, makes it a truly useful and practical product. When ordinary flashlights fade away, NightStar will guide the way.
